Creating A Voyage to Change the World at the Barbican, Plymouth

The Barbican Theatre got in touch with news of their act of creation for their A Voyage to Change the World performance, based on the life and work of Charles Darwin. Conjuring up something out of nothing is something the Creationists could level at Darwin, and this is as much a voyage of discover for the young artists as it is a retelling of the Darwin tale, as they themselves evolve through the process of creation. Skylines, the Ecopoetics exhibition, with its festival day on June 20, has all kinds of inventive ways to engage with language and landscape. The exhibition is taking place at the CCANW, at Haldon Forest until June 28. Elizabeth-Jane Burnett, the poet behind the event, explains how it all got started

The idea for Skylines came about during visits to CCANW stretching back to 2006 when it first opened, and really through years of personal engagement with the area – my grandparents lived in Ide, and I grew up near Crediton.
