Shake and shine! Incidental Imagery show highlights eco art in Newton Abbot

Five artists under the moniker of Incidental Imagery are exhibiting at an unusual site in the centre of Newton Abbot at the end of November, and the show aims to highlight not only their rare talent, but also energy saving.

Some of the collection will only be illuminated using hand held ‘shake and shine’ customised torches.  And “in the beam of light you will see a plastic rain forest, heads made out of discarded toys, bleached fish, ethereal insects, post apocalyptic sculptures and ‘glow in the dark’ art

In the gallery there are Devon Rarities’ photographed by Vicki Gardner, tactile jewellery and wall sculptures by Luci Coles, extinction installations and a homage to milkmen by Gill Greatorex, edible transition sculptures by Jane Baker and collectable digital prints by Jan O’Highway.

There is a courtyard full of art including taps dripping in ‘stone’ and a monumental sculpture made out of hundreds of hub caps by the Bishopsteignton Outdoor Art Group.

Incidental Imagery is open November 27-29 and December 2-6, noon-7pm  (including a late night opening to 9pm on Wednesday, December 2). Other times by appointment. Venue is at 39 East Street, Newton Abbot (under the archway next to The Locomotive pub). Incidental Imagery are exhibiting as part of Teign Artists Paint the Town event.
