Artistic roadshow round Devon with Ideford Arts on the Road

A group of artists based in Ideford are going on the road to inspire other artists and those who don’t quite have the confidence to exhibit their work alone.

The group, going under then name of Ideford Artists on the Road, will give people an opportunity to see the artists at work and to discuss what they are doing.

The first roadshow takes place at St Andrew’s Hall, Ashburton on Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11, from 10am until 5pm.

There will be more exhibitions throughout the year, the next being held in Topsham on June 19-20.

The group is led by Paul Freestone, railway, botanical and landscape artist, and is made up a  wide range of creative disciplines, including painters using acrylic, oils and watercolour, wildlife and landscape photographers, silk painters and glass workers, printers, spoon carvers and sculptors.

Images include botanical, ornithological and animal studies, seascapes, landscapes and transport, spoons which follow the natural lines of the wood from which they are caved, lampshades, cushions, wall art and bedspreads made from painted silk; bowls, lamps and mirrors using stained and fused glass and jewellery made from Dichoric glass; photographs and handmade prints. The styles range from the figurative to abstract.
