Q&A with Teignmouth artists Laura Fulner

Teignmouth-based artist Laura Fulner got in touch with our Q&A for artists. Here’s a little bit more about her and her work.

Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Laura Fulner born in 1967 in Somerset and now living in Teignmouth, South Devon. I am a painter/artist and produce a wide range of subject matters including florals, seascapes, sunsets, animals and birds, ice-creams and Cadbury’s creme eggs!

Why do you do what you do?
I paint because I’m inspired to. Simple as that really. Saves one from going insane!

How do you work?
I work from home and paint in acrylics.

What’s your background?
I have an art O’ Level, but have a background in marketing and sales. I started painting again in 2004. I have sold paintings all over the UK and Ireland.

What’s integral to the work of an artist?
Inspiration, creativity, and remaining true to your own ideas and visions.

What role does the artist have in society?
I hope to bring some pleasure to people just by looking at my work, thinking about it and what it means to them. I aim to make people feel good through art.

What has been a seminal experience?
The dealth of my father in 2005 made me realise he was right about having a positive attitute to life and being able to do anything you want with your life if you try hard enough.
