Art in Central Park, Plymouth. New call for commisions

Plymouth College of Art

Plymouth City Council and Plymouth College of Art are working together to develop a series of commissions of temporary public artworks that will be sited in Central Park, Plymouth, between April and October.

The series of commissions will respond to the specific context of Plymouth Central Park and the people who use the park.

A spokesperson told Arts+Culture: “We are looking to commission an artist/artist group for a project that will take place during August. We are specifically looking to commission work that is ‘live’ rather then an ‘object’ installed physically in the park.

“The work should be a one off live intervention/performance/event/action and should consider how audiences will experience and engage with the work while being sensitive to the park visitors willingness to participate directly.”

The commission budget is £1,000. This budget must cover all artists’ costs (travel and accommodation as well as production/materials).

Further details can be found at www.plymouth.gov.uk/artincentralpark

Send a proposal of no more then x1 A4, a budget breakdown, short artist statement, CV and four-six high-quality images. Digital submissions only to: jodie.bishop@plymouth.gov.uk

The deadline is Tuesday, June 1 at 5pm
