Photo-Cubist Ben Yates will be displaying another string to practice at his Photography and Innovation exhibition at Birdwood House Totnes from Sunday, August 8 to Saturday, August 14.
Ben’s taking the opportunity to show off his new book, a travelogue/photo book of his travels round Europe with a theatre company that also charts his first steps in photography.
But with an exhibition that has innovation in the title, you’d expect a little more.
Ben told ArtsCulture, “I’ve newly developed a hands-on Photo-Cubist puzzle that people are welcome to test your skill on, but I’m most pleased to announce the completion (and display) of a project that I’ve been working and thinking on (mostly thinking) since 2004! That being a photographic Deck of Cards – each playing card is in fact a photo of various architectural details, arrangements of objects, or people featuring the four suits.”
There will also be new examples of Ben’s Electri-Cities – recycled computer computer circuity made into intricate cityscapes and contained inside an acrylic and glass coffee table.
And hot out of the workshop, there will also be version of these that can hang on the wall.
Birdwood House is located up Totnes High St on the upper side of the Market Square.
