A Totnes gallery is exhibiting the work of a financial adviser who has earned big creative dividends by investing his time in weird and wonderful ceramics.
Robin Currie, who specialises in green investments, started working with ceramics after his wife, Trish, bought him a two-day workshop with Ashburton ceramics teacher and creator Tati Dennehy.
Four years later, his hand-crafted flights of fancy include geese wearing sunglasses, a lizard in swimming trunks and a tree with three arms.
“It’s very therapeutic to do something so different from my day job,” Exeter-based Robin told ArtsCulture. “And it’s very exciting that my work is getting such strong reactions – most of them positive.”
In fact, it’s proved so popular that it’s the subject of two forthcoming local exhibitions.
From November 7-13 Robin’s ceramics will feature in Not What We Expected, an exhibition of work by eight Souhd Devon artists at Birdwood Studio in Totnes, followed by an exhibition at Unearth Gallery & Studio, at 46 Preston Street, Exeter.
