London art critic opens Drawn to the Valley art exhibition

Mount Edgcumbe

London art critic and writer, Peter Davies, author of 18 books of art criticism, opened Drawn to the Valley art group’s Explore this Space exhibition at Mount Edgcumbe.

Peter is currently interested in the contemporary art scene in south east Cornwall, having focused in the past on St Ives and the west. He is also an obituary writer for The Independent, and is himself a painter and print-maker, and member of the Bath Society of Artists and Poole Printmakers.

At the opening, Peter said he was passionate about the idea of community among artists, and hoped to support Drawn to the Valley artists’ activities in the future. He also signed copies of his book: St Ives Art and Artists: 1975 to 2005.

This exhibition runs from until Sunday, October 31, open every day, from 11am to 4pm, in the Barrow Centre adjacent to Mount Edgcumbe House, on the Rame Peninsula in south east Cornwall, just over the Cremyll Ferry from Plymouth.

The exhibition space, originally a threshing barn, is in the historic Grade II Listed Barrow Centre. This is surrounded by the Grade I listed park and formal gardens.
