Harbour House call for artists to explore Open Space

Harbour House in Kingsbridge is challenging local artists to produce exciting new works of art exploring the concept of Open Space.

Up to four works of art in any medium can be submitted for an Open Art Exhibition at the Kingsbridge art gallery at the end of March.

Harbour House Arts Co-ordinator Alison Veazey told ArtsCulture: “We’re expecting a lot of big skies, open landscapes and wide seascapes for this exhibition, but we’re also hoping that artists will explore our theme of Open Space in less obvious ways, such as abstract art and sculpture.

“Frank Lloyd Wright said, ‘Space is the breath of art’, and we’re looking forward to seeing how our local artists choose to convey a feeling of space. Work can be in any medium, but must be original – no reproductions.

“Our Open Art Exhibitions offer a great opportunity for new artists to take their first steps in exhibiting their work, and at the same time a significant number of established local artists enjoy the challenge of producing new work in response to our themes.”

Works of art are to be handed in at Harbour House between 9.30am and noon on Monday, March 28, and will be assessed by a small group of invited selectors. The exhibition runs over the busy Easter period from April 1-27, and traditionally attracts large numbers of visitors.

For full details of entry requirements, call in to Harbour House for a brochure, or visit the Harbour House website.
