See Sally Howkins' Law, Probability and Risk in the window of Off The Hook, Exeter

Independent Exeter fashion store Off The Hook has a contemporary art exhibition amongst its display of clothes and shoes.

Proprietor Selwyn Warren has teamed up with curators Felicity Shillingford and Gabrielle Hoad to use part of his Fore Street shop window as a gallery space. Sally Howkins is the first artist to appear in this sought-after spot. Her video work Law, Probability and Risk looks at the unique mark our fingerprints make on every surface that we touch.

“Art and fashion have always been an inspiration for each other,” Selwyn told ArtsCulture. “Customers who enjoy cutting-edge fashion enjoy seeing new and exciting art works – and vice versa.”

“It’s great to be able to show art works outside the gallery,” said Felicity Shillingford. “It provides passers-by with a chance to experience contemporary art as part of their everyday lives.”

Law, Probability and Risk is the first of a series of artworks to be presented by Found Space – a not-for-profit curating organisation that works with unconventional venues and artists who want to show in them – in association with Off The Hook Clothing.  It can be seen at 151-152 Fore Street until Friday, March 25.
