The latest production from Dartmoor’s MED Theatre is a contemporary comedy about the conlict over land-use on Dartmoor. Called No Access, it will be toured around six Dartmoor venues throughout March.
No Access is an original starry about a rural community, each member of which has a different reaction when the area of land, which is important to each of them in a variety of way, changes.
When Dartmoor farmer Edgar Bampton decides to fence off a part of his land that had previously been indistinguishable from the heath and woods and rocks of the open moor, he divides his family and the community. Walkers want a right of way and for local people the place is full of memories.
On the other hand there are calls to protect endangered wildlife, and to hold the line for farmers everywhere. The myth of the Dartmoor beast haunts the action as it builds to a humorous climax of protest and confusion at a summer evening party.
MED Theatre will be premiering and touring No Access, written by a team of Dartmoor writers, to village halls and community venues in the Dartmoor area in March.
