The Recipe Exchange opens at the Spacex with a talk by artist Helen Pritchard

The Recipe Exchange, Spacex

The launch event of The Recipe Exchange at the Spacex, Exeter, takes place on Saturday, May 14 between 3-5pm with a an artist talk by Helen Pritchard at 4pm.

The exhibition documents The Recipe Exchange, an ongoing project that began in September 2010 in Farringdon and Woodbury Salterton, East Devon.

As an artist and researcher Helen has worked with residents in the villages to co-host a series of skill sharing events and establish an online archive of practical know-how.

Expanding on the notion of a ‘recipe’, The Recipe Exchange draws on the radition of the community cookbook, through which detailed information is broken down into a series of sequential steps and shared socially. Recipe sharing can be seen as a sociable, everyday model of ‘open’ culture.

The Recipe Exchange continues until Saturday, July 9. The Spacex is open from Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, admission free
