Art Haven exhibition at Redearth Gallery

Art Haven's Christine Sawyer

Art Haven, contemporary artists based in Exeter and Crediton, present their summer exhibition at Redearth Gallery, near Bickleigh Mill of a mix of painting and drawing, photography, sculpture and textiles.

Art Haven are a group of professional artists from Exeter and Crediton have always enjoyed and encouraged enthusiastic interactions with their visitors.

The artists have been exhibiting regularly within the city of Exeter, following first appearances on the city’s Quay in 1999 and 2000. A succession of exhibitions have followed showcasing a variety of works. This is the first year they appear at Redearth. All artwork is for sale, with some drawings and unframed prints for the budding budget art collector.

One of the Art Haven artist Daphne Cartwright said: “To be exhibiting ‘upriver’ at Redearth Gallery seems very apt. Our 2009 show ‘Same river different water’ was held at Unit 3 Haven Banks in the Exeter basin. The river Exe seems to have been a repeating geographical feature in this unique Art group’s development right from it’s beginnings at the Old Maritime museum, acting as a metaphor for the ‘flow’ of ideas between members of the group and the public. ”

Art Haven is at Redearth Gallery to July 31

The Art Haven artists involved are Anne Jackson (textiles), Daphne Cartwright (painting), Gabi Krukenberg-Tayler (photography), Robert Joyce (painting and drawing), Meg Surrey (painting), Liese Webley (painting), Paul Cartwright (photography), Kit Surrey (drawing), Christine Sawyer (drawing and textiles), David Sawyer (sculpture) and Stella Tripp (painting and mixed-media).
