In case any of you were wondering, the Art Trek launch at Arlington Court went really well – lots of people, lots of food and a good buzz. My worries about food contributions were unfounded.
Last weekend was spent in my camper van going round to some of the Art Trek artists in far-flung corners of North Devon. Thank god the weather was perfect. The first night was spent in Shebbear Square – I can recommend this as the pub opposite does excellent food (and beer, according to my partner). We awoke to see people casually strolling to the village shop, chatting and coming back with their papers, just like being in a French village. Then back across to the pub for the ‘full English’, afterwards vowing not to eat again that day!
The artists we visited were really welcoming and had all created lovely spaces to show off their work. We went to ceramicists, John and Jan Mullin, The Little Gallery on the Farm, Glen Headland and Paul Wright, pachadesign, Paul Jenner, The Gallery @ 360 Trust, David Ames and most of the artists in Northam and Westward Ho! Well worth the long milage.
Check them out on the website North Devon Festival site – click on the Art Trek logos.
The second Art Trek weekend starts today and continues until Sunday, so there is still plenty of time to catch up with some of the artists.
