More than 500 voted for their favourite artwork, and South West-based artists, with Zierle & Carter’s work Encounters: The Arrival picking up the award.
Zierle & Carter said: “In what is a particularly strong show this year, with many memorable works, we are truly stunned that so many of the visitors to the Exeter Phoenix chose to vote for our work.
“Receiving this award now is particularly pertinent and special to us as it is our first formal recognition of this work and we are delighted that it is in the South West on home soil at the Phoenix Gallery, a space which through Exeter Contemporary Open and its ongoing exhibitions is building a national reputation for having a rigorous and engaging programme.”
The artists will receive a £200 Award sponsored by Exeter’s Off The Hook Clothing.
