If you’re in Exeter, treat yourself to a trip to the Exeter Phoenix Cafe Bar to catch an exhibition of new prints by Tanya Morel.
Her Greedy Gwen has been making herself known, but this is an opportunity to see more of Tanya’s work.
“With a background in theatre, Tanya’s images reflect her love of a good narrative,” says the blurb. “Often ambiguous, with a wryly melancholic atmosphere, what at first appears to be innocent and benign could, at a second glance, be interpreted as rather sinister.”
Tanya’s visual arts practice covers drawing, sculpture, printmaking, painting, animation and filmmaking.
“I make prints in a variety of ways. etching, aquatint, carborundum, drypoint, monoprint… lots of them in black & white,” says Tanya on her website.
“I have recently rediscovered chine colle and have gone mad trying to get colour into everything with this beautiful Japanese paper. I’m always trying to capture an atmosphere in my work.”
• Tanay Morel’s new prints will be at the cafe bar at the Exeter Phoenix until Saturday, June 27 2015
