Claire Malet picked up the Best New Design Award, Goldsmiths’ Fair 2014.
She received the award for her new work in silver, called Sylvan Relic 1.
2014 has been a good year for Claire, she has been commissioned by the Contemporary Art Society and Manchester Art Gallery to make a vessel for the Manchester Art Gallery collection. The piece was on display initially as part of Sculptural Forms: A Century of Experiment.
And the Victoria & Albert Museum acquired one of her steel pieces for the permanent collection from Collect 2014, held at the Saatchi Gallery.
Clair works with steel, copper, silver and gold leaf, letting her medium take her in artistic directions inspired by textures, colours and shapes of natural forms and landscapes.
