Hot on the heels of the Brook’s Frost exhibition, the gallery celebrates the first decade of the noughties with names such as David Hockney, Henry Moore and many more.
The rollercoaster ride sets off in June with Heidi Koenig, Sir Peter Blake and Kathleen Caddick. In contrast with Kathleen’s intricate landscapes of muted colours and sepia tones, Heidi’s evocative and fluid abstracts contrast with Sir Peter Blake’s iconic use of popular culture. It’s an eclectic combination that spans the decade and starts the summer off in style.
In July, Mending Broken Hearts, heralds the CCA’s British Heart Foundation Portfolio, and provides the focal point for this part of the exhibition with heart-related work by acclaimed artists and printmakers, such as Maurice Cockrill, Barbara Rae, Brad Faine, plus Tom Phillips, John Hoyland, Bruce McLean and Deborah Treliving, among others.
All work sold from the portfolio will raise funds and generate awareness of this worthy charity. The late Donald Hamilton Fraser compliments the exhibition with beautiful vibrant landscapes.
Professor Chris Orr, David Hockney and Henry Moore demontrate excellence in draughtsmanship for the final cycle of the Brook’s 2010 exhibition in August. Professor Chris Orr’s intricate detail and clever depiction of all things British will focus on his London-influenced work through the years. Henry Moore’s unique and celebrated style sits comfortably alongside David Hockney’s illustrations.
It’s a combination of styles but a consistency of talent that works and which keeps the energy levels high at the Brook to see the summer through. It’s an evolving exhibition, so go to the website or telephone the gallery for details of events throughout the course of this exhibition.
