South Devon writer Brian Carter’s book A Black Fox Running, which was included in the Nation’s Classic Writers of the English Countryside as nominated by Guardian readers in 2005, has been republished by the publishing arm of the Torbay Bookshop in Paignton.
Brian told thisissouthdevon: “It was good fun to write that book. It’s set in the 1940s, when I was a kid, and it depicts some of the world I saw then.”
The story is about a dark-furred Dartmoor fox and his conflict with a trapper and his dog. The book is illustrated with Brian’s own drawings.
