A performance of Two Gentlemen of Verona could easily become a tale of Two Cities, as University of Exeter Drama Department joins up the Cambridge performers to present the play in Exeter and Cambridge at the same time.
The performance, Simultaneous Shakespeare: The Two Gentlemen of Verona, will take place on Saturday, November 26.
Director Nicola Pollard said: “We hope to be able to have a live video feed between the two venues to enable audiences, actors and crew to share a theatrical experience across 200 miles.
“All of those involved are students or graduates of the two universities, including first years to second year PhDs. All together there are over 40 people working in the cast or on the creative team.”
“It is my hope that this project will continue to build on links between the universities and the residents of Exeter and Cambridge. I believe there should be increased dialogue between students and residents, particularly when students can illustrate the positive contributions we can make to the locality.”
• The University of Exeter Drama Department, Homerton College and HATS (Homerton Amateur Theatrical Society) performance of Simultaneous Shakespeare: The Two Gentlemen of Verona, will take place at Roborough Studios, RS2 OR Homerton College Auditorium, Hills Road at 7pm. Tickets £3.
There will also be retiring collections for the South West Children’s Hospice and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice, in Exeter and Cambridge respectively.
