Skylines Festival Day at the CCANW, plus the curator’s talk

The Skylines Festival Day takes place today (June 20) at the CCANW and Haldon Forest, near Exeter, with all kinds of events for all the family – including the chance to explore a primitive hut (Pictured). Art Trek Blog: 17th June. 8.30pm.

Had a nice day in Dulverton today. My partner was photographing the work of ceramicst, Jacqueline Leighton-Boyce in her studio up on Exmoor, just over the border into Somerset. Jackie is doing Art Trek with basket maker, Mary Melling and print maker, Judith Westcott, in Judith’s South Molton studio. It was so nice to meet up with Jackie and to see her work, as all our correspondence has been by phone or email.

Art Trek blog: 9.30pm. Tuesday, June 16

A few calls from artists wanting the bright yellow, festival banners to highlight their venues – but all are in use for other events taking place over this period. The festival team very kindly agreed to try to make up for this by designing and printing a couple of A3 posters for each Art Trek artist (nearly 100) That’s a lot of printing. Hopefully a drama averted.

Creating A Voyage to Change the World at the Barbican, Plymouth

The Barbican Theatre got in touch with news of their act of creation for their A Voyage to Change the World performance, based on the life and work of Charles Darwin. Conjuring up something out of nothing is something the Creationists could level at Darwin, and this is as much a voyage of discover for the young artists as it is a retelling of the Darwin tale, as they themselves evolve through the process of creation. But this is what the theatre had to say.

Stephan Koplowitz and TaskForce rehearse for the Liquid Landscapes performances in Devon

The Liquid Landscape dance project, which takes place this summer throughout Devon with choreographer Stephan Koplowitz and TaskForce, is now well underway. We have three short films of rehearsal footage at three sites.

These short films have all been made in the last week and are being broadcast onto the BBC big screen in Plymouth all month with more to sites to follow, but you can check them out here.
