Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, an opera by Tobias Picker, with text by Donald Sturrock, tours the UK visiting the Exeter Northcott on Tuesday, March 22. The production, directed by English Touring Opera’s education director, Tim Yealland features 21 Exeter schoolchildren performing alongside a cast of professional singers.
Young people (13 to 19 years-old), with an interest in either performing or working on the technical side of theatre, are being invited to attend one of a series of free introductory Devon Youth Theatre workshops at the Exeter Northcott, and throughout Devon. During these workshops, youngsters will get the chance to work with DYT artistic director Erin Walcon in devising, writing and performing original pieces of theatre.
The Exeter University has agreed to set up a new company to run the Exeter Northcott. The theatre will go ahead with both the Exeter Summer Festival events and is planning a winter programme, including a Christmas show.
