Creative thinking in sport for RugbyForces weekend

There’s a powerful beauty to rugby union, and there’s something touching about people coming together as one in a common purpose. The RugbyForces weekend combines the two.

RugbyForces is an initiative set up by RBS to offer support to rugby clubs throughout the UK. Part of that support comes in the form of grants of up to £4,000 for major renovation work. And RugbyForces weekend, June 15 and 16, is the designated time for volunteers to descend on their local clubs to help with that work.

Take a look at the film to see how former internationals Scott Quinnell and Phil Vickery faced up to the RugbyForce Changing Rooms Challenge. What was called for was some creative thinking over and above a lick of paint.

Rugby clubs too need a little bit of creative thinking to ensure that they can become viable small business. Here’s where RugbyForces can also help with advice and tips and an education programme for the clubs.

The aim is to keep the rugby heart of the community beating and make rugby clubs stronger businesses by improving and renovating their facilities with the support of volunteers and the community.

It’s a process that will not only strengthen communities and clubs, but also travel up to international level. That process is recognised by England coach Stuart Lancaster, who will be out and about during RugbyForces weekend, sharing his leadership qualities with the hoards of volunteers.
