It’s officially launched this weekend as part of the Open Weekend, but Plymouth City Council is looking for innovative and exciting proposals for a new creative commissioning site in central Plymouth as part of the Big Blueprint.
Plymouth is host to the only Big Screen south of Bristol, and to expand on the cultural offer of the site, we want to commission a series of new works for the south facing view. The Big Blueprint is funded by the Arts Unit, The City Centre Company and supported by the BBC and The Plymouth City Art Gallery and Museum.
In addition to the display of the works at the site, each commissioned artist will produce a piece of work for an exhibition showcasing the three-year long programme. The exhibition will be held in Plymouth in 2012. The programme will commission three new works. In addition three images will be selected from the Museum and Archives Collection, which celebrates the principles of the project, and highlights the collections which are not on public display.
