It comes to something when you ask the audience to ‘finish’ a piece of work, but then again, they could equally destroy it. That’s what you get when you call for audience participation, and it’s exactly what Scott Daniels‘ exhibition Co.Lab at the Viewpoint Gallery, Plymouth College of Art, from Monday, November 9 to Saturday, December 5 is all about.
Parts of the installation are triggered into life when viewers pass through the space; others are an invitation to the audience to make their ‘mark’ on the work.
The active role that audience members take is both creative and destructive – a new ‘shredder’ work, begins to produce ‘waste’ as a result of viewing – perhaps instilling a sense of responsibility in viewers.
Scott has been part of the Plymouth Arts scene since he first took part in an exhibition in 2002, Co.Lab is his first solo show and promises to be both interactive and ‘collaborative’.
Co.Lab is at the Viewpoint Gallery, Plymouth College of Art from Monday, November 9 to Saturday, December 5. from 5pm to 7.30pm.
