Bang & Olfusen have been at the forefront of stylish sound for decades. Here’s a film about the creation of a unique surround sound system.
It’s part of a series of films which take glimpses behind how the design and sound icons come together.
There’s an art, and science, to the creating of Bang & Olufsen pieces, which have been handcrafted in Struer – a small town in the north western part of Denmark – since 1925 with ‘design and engineering as the key concepts of quality and sound experience’.
Each product is tirelessly created. The new BeoLit 14, for example, went through 2000 hours of sound engineering and 500 hours of designing, and underwent rigourous testing – including being exposed to temperatures of -100°C!
But it’s the beautiful design and rich sound that mark out Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen’s original vision for Bang & Olfusen.
The Bang & Olfusen techno and design boffins are facing up to the needs for tomorrow’s consumer, one of which is more sound in smaller sizes. Check out the movie to see the development of the delicate speakers, which can be fitted into any room and with the subwoofer. And see the wonderfully nicknamed Tower of Power – as it is referred to by its designers – which holds six independent amplifiers.
The handcrafted and uniquely shaped speakers of the BL14 will light up any room, and the design allows you to choose from a variety of colours to fit your home décor. Pick your colour and place the speakers anywhere you want: on the walls, on the ceiling, standing on the floor. It’s like having a sculpture for your sound which enhances your sound sculpture.
Bang & Olfusen are at the pinnacle of sound and design, with their systems integrated into cars such as Aston Martin and Audi A8, and they have worked with Universal Music to bring audiences the ultimate sound experience with Les Miserables. Together they created an exclusive 5.1 surround sound edition for the soundtrack album.
Bang & Olfusen offers a complete style for the epic sounds. Click through the film to find out more about their sound systems and other products, a highly distinctive and exclusive range of televisions, music systems, loudspeakers, telephones, and multimedia products that combine technological excellence with emotional appeal.
