Francesca graduated with a Fine Art Degree from the Arts Institute at Bournmouth in 2007. She currently manages the art gallery, Gloss, in Exeter and creates her work in her spare time.
Drawing is this artist’s passion and she is currently producing a series of pieces which have been influenced by a selection of the Grimm’s fairytales.
She said: “I have used the traditional characters as inspiration and have adapted them to suit a contemporary audience as I believe their stories have a universal appeal. I began producing drawings influenced by fairytales during my BA Fine Art course and they have since had a huge influence on my work. I am also greatly inspired by fashion photography and illustration which is evident in the female characters I portray.”
She is a regular visitor to Devon Open Studios and is thrilled to take part this year with the bursary. “The critical feedback that I hope to receive from the visitors to my show will help me develop as an exhibiting artist and the bursary will be a great help towards the cost of hosting my exhibition,” she said.
