Verity Newman and Jan O’Highway cast an eye on what they say is the beauty existing in death and the vanity and folly of our precarious existence in an exhibition timed to celebrate Halloween, All Saints and Sanheim, apparently when the veil between the worlds is thin.
The exhibition, Vanitas, which celebrates the Devonshire Day of the Dead is at the Birdwood House Gallery, Totnes from October 29 to November 3.
Jan is also running a scanner-photography workshop on October 29. Pop along to her website to find out how she plans to subvert the office scanner to become a high-definition macro lens, and take a look at some examples.
