Shimmering South West spring tour | Anna Anise and boci

Spring should shimmer with hope, and maybe a little magic. The spring combo tour of astral/folk artist boci and the feel-good folk of Anna Anise contains both an ethereal sense of something other as well as a grassroots goodness that warms the soul.

A strong Celtic influence runs through Anna’s work, growing from her Cornish roots, which blooms into infectious energy. Her signature layered harmonies and catchy hooks ripple through her music, and she has a joy of bringing ‘a room together with a sing-a-long section’.

“I’m inspired by Celtic traditional music, and I’m excited by the songwriting process and the intricacies of its alchemy,” says Anna. “I write feel-good folky songs filled with lyrical storytelling and energetic melodies. Songwriting has been part of my life since I was making up songs in the school playground (I remember those lyrics oh too well), and then all the way through my music degree and career in creative event production.”

boci’s astral dream-folk sound world is woven with layers of euphoric string textures, crystalline vocals, expansive synths and therapeutic percussive grooves. The message is one of unity, connection and healing, informed by the life-affirming pulse of traditional folk.

“I see life as an interconnected, unified, flowing entity – every being, every form, every molecule existing in relation to everything else. Nothing and no-one is separate from this, even if they no longer exist in the form they once did. This way of looking at things has helped me through my loneliest and most hopeless times,” says boci.

This will be Anna’s first UK tour of South England and Wales, travelling with boci for those folky fiddle solos among her heartfelt and upbeat repertoire. And from boci, expect an after-summer second album.
