The Spacex programmes regular activities for children aged 5 to 16 years. Currently we have two term-time art clubs, a family activity trail in the gallery and holiday workshops for children led by artists.
ARTCLUB
Every Saturday except April 11 and 9 May 9, 10am–12pm, 8–11 yr olds,
£3 per session, booking essential.
Artclub runs throughout the year on Saturdays during exhibition periods. These sessions introduce children to a wide range of media and approaches to art. Recent activities include sculpture, sound art, film-making, conceptual art, photography, animation and of course painting and drawing.
OUTERSPACE
Every Wednesday except May 6 and 13, 5.30pm–7.30pm, 12–15 yr olds, £3 per session, booking essential.
A weekly after school art club at Spacex, with the opportunity to complete the bronze/silver Arts Award.
A wide variety of art activities are on offer each week.
Both clubs are led by artist and teacher Jenny Mellings who has been running art activities at Spacex for fifteen years.
EASTER HOLIDAYS
Sound and Object Workshop
Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17, 9-13 yrs, 10am – 4pm, cost £12, booking essential.
A two day workshop led by artist Helen Pritchard. Use simple sound recording equipment to make experimental soundscapes which will form part of a Sound Museum and take home a CD of your artwork as a souvenir.
