The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter, has won the Empty Space, Mark Marvin Rent Subsidy Award 2011 for its in-house production of Bunnies.
The Mark Marvin Rent Subsidy Award is given to both a company and a theatre in order to improve the standard of work at a venue that could not afford the company otherwise.
The Bike Shed Theatre is unique to any other recipient of an Empty Space Award 2011 because it is only one of two theatres outside of London to be given an award. This year it was up against Outward Bound at the Finborough Theatre, and OperaUpClose at the King’s Head Theatre.
After Bunnies completes its three week stint at The Bike Shed Theatre, the play is being transferred to London in spring to be performed at The Old Red Lion further developing the theatrical relationship between London and the South West.
